Here at Hedley Wood we’re fortunate to be surrounded by idyllic destinations, top attractions and outstanding natural beauty. There is simply so much to see and do nearby!
With a caravan holiday in Devon you’re free to explore all that the region has to offer. But with so much on your doorstep, how should you spend your time?
In the first of our guides to the local area, we will shine the spotlight on one attraction or destination that we feel should be on your to-do list! This time we focus on the beautiful harbour town of Padstow, which is located about an hour’s drive down the north Cornwall coast.
Why visit Padstow?
Located just over 30 miles from our Bude holiday park, Padstow is a charming working fishing port is a popular foodie destination and is the home town of celebrity chef Rick Stein.
Here you can spend hours wandering around the shops, cafes and sampling the fine local produce in the many top restaurants including Rick Stein’s own Seafood Restaurant.
The town is also the start and end point for the Camel Trail, which runs along the disused railway line between the town and Wenfordbridge, Bodmin and Wadebridge. This 18-mile trail runs through both a Site of Special Scientific Interest and Special Area Of Conservation and takes in some spectacular countryside.
Padstow is also the place to:
- Enjoy a day on the beach
- Visit Padstow Museum and learn more about this town over the centuries
- Take the ferry across the River Camel to the pretty village of Rock (home to a host of celebs)
- Take a trip out onto the water with a ride on a speedboat
- head out to sea and enjoy a fishing trip with your friends
